POSITION SUMMARY

Develop, modify, certify and support operation of Cabin Systems for the Commercial and Executive Aviation Jets, driven by ultimate passenger experience, reliable and low-cost operation. Work with a worldwide supplier base to integrate system hardware and software in the following systems: Passenger In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, Satellite Connections, Cabin Management System, Seat Electrical Systems, Cabin/Emergency Lights, Cabin Surveillance System, Power Outlets, Galley Inserts, and more.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Define system and high-level requirements related to the functionality of cabin and entertainment systems by translating customer requirements into product requirements;
  • Work in either the serialized production or the aftermarket modifications environment;
  • Prepare system technical specification for procurement process;
  • Create systems level box diagrams to illustrate cabin systems architecture;
  • Create robust test procedures to validate the appropriate functionality and system requirement/specification verification and validation of newly integrated LRU’s and cabin components;
  • Conduct technical meetings/discussions with suppliers, and evaluate technical information (specifications, drawings, reports, tests) provided for every component/part, to verify proper design, functionality and robustness;
  • Define and verify DO-160, DO-178, DO-307, DO-297, DO-313, ARP4754 applicability, qualification requirements and categories;
  • Define system architecture and interfaces;
  • Evaluate the specification of electronic devices/components used in the system architecture, and perform analysis/simulation for the electrical circuit/schematics, to investigate possible faults and guarantee the robustness of the final solution;
  • Designs and implements certification plans and conduct technical discussions with certification authorities (ANAC, FAA, EASA, etc);
  • Prepares technical reports to show compliance with applicable certification requirements;
  • Performs RIG/Mock-up/Aircraft tests;
  • Supports investigation on production line or at MROs of issues and defines corrective actions,
  • Supports investigation on fleet issues and define corrective actions
  • Establishes and maintains simulated environments and perform tests and analyses of prototype systems.
  • Guarantee the correct interface between interiors installation and electrical, manufacture/maintenance and assembly processes.
  • Integrate electrical cabin components and entertainment systems based on market, product and certification requirements in order to guarantee adherence to quality as well as the overall program cost and schedule goals.
  • Execution of cabin systems related programs ensuring adherence to quality as well as the overall program cost and schedule goals.
  • Ensure project related engineering data is in compliance with corporate policies and certification requirements.
  • Applies technical principles, theories and concepts to solve a wide range of challenging engineering problems.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • Prior executive or commercial aviation in cabin systems and aftermarket modifications (Supplemental Type Certificates and Service Bulletins).
  • Experience in qualification and certification of a system during all phases of development is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in an aviation cabin or entertainment systems related discipline.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Detailed knowledge of individual system components such as Passenger In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, Satellite Connections, Cabin Management System, Seat Electrical Systems, Cabin/Emergency Lights, Cabin Surveillance System, Power Outlets, Galley Inserts, and more.
  • Knowledge as user of the following applications: IBM Rational DOORs, SAP, VPMWeb, IGEXAO, and CATIA.
  • Comprehension and understanding of practices associated within the field of work assigned.
  • Experience with Computer Networks is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Python language is a plus.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Amesim, etc.
  • Experience with electrical hardware and electrical diagrams required.
  • High level of familiarity with software certification process DO-178C and means of showing compliance.
  • Knowledge of various testing methods.
  • The use of Human Factors concepts during product development to reduce user workload during the performance of tasks.
  • Understand critical and non-critical electrical cabin components and use redundant communications paths when necessary to mitigate effects of failure modes.
  • Knowledge of techniques for signal separation (digital and analogue) and ability to provide recommendations for avoiding corruption or susceptibility to signal interference of either.
  • Familiarity with Type Certification and Supplemental Type Certification processes.
  • Comprehension, understanding and execution of broad practices associated within the field assigned and related fields.
  • Applies these understandings in the completion of complex work assignments.
  • Role requires application of advanced skills attained via greater years of experience towards solving complex issues and problems.
  • May act as Project Representative from immediate group they are assigned to in the resolution of problems/issues encountered across multiple functions which require a coordinated response.
  • Impact within job and their department based on their work responsibilities begins to regularly extend to certain other functional groups within the organization.
  • Errors could adversely impact internal and/or external customer business relationships and could result in moderate to significant work delays and/or costs to correct.

  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Work experience in Supplemental Type Certificate environment is a plus.
