PURPOSE:

This position is accountable for proposal, design, and development of the forging, tooling, and manufacturing processes required to satisfy the customers’ product specifications. It is the Product Engineer’s responsibility to ensure these processes are cost effective and within the manufacturing capabilities of the company. Furthermore, the Product Engineer is responsible for continuous cost improvement of products to improve the company’s overall competitiveness in the aerospace and energy markets.

In a “hand’s on” roll, the Product Engineer is required to support the manufacturing operation for technical and quality issues as they relate to the products. The candidate must have sound manufacturing and technical experience in forging processes and supplementary manufacturing operations. Additionally, experience is required in secondary operations such as Heat Treat, Machining and Inspection. The candidate must be capable of articulating with all levels of the organization. He/She must have a high mechanical aptitude and be capable of providing engineered solutions within the manufacturing processes. The applicant must be motivated, detail oriented, analytical and team oriented.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide cost effective, creative and competitive manufacturing estimates for new customer products. Estimates must include Non-Recurring Costs associated with the processes and Recurring Costs associated with tooling and qualification.
  • Support 3D design of forging product.
  • Support 3D design of mechanically sound forging tooling and HT/Machining Fixtures.
  • Design new product processes and implementation within the manufacturing environment.
  • Work within the engineering team to risk assess forging products/tooling through use of FEA simulation modeling.
  • Customer support relating to new product design/introduction and product quality issues. Respond to customer inquiries on existing products.
  • MRB and product repair operations for damaged forging products.
  • Root cause investigate and remedial action to reduce rework.
  • Continuous cost reduction efforts with emphasis in material utilization and operational steps.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering degree required, BS Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering preferred.
  • Forging experience preferred
  • 3D Modeling, CATIA V5 Preferred.
  • Classical blueprint interpretation / GD&T knowledge.
  • Statistical Analysis. (Six Sigma, Minitab, Quantum SPC).
  • Fundamental knowledge of hydraulic forging presses and press Data Acquisition Systems.
