Production Planning Engineer

Shift Pattern: 5x5x4 Day Shift (07:00 – 19:00)
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Planning Engineer to support aircraft line and base maintenance operations at RAF Brize Norton.
This is a critical planning role responsible for ensuring all aircraft maintenance activities are effectively prepared, scheduled, and executed in full compliance with Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations and Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) standards.
Working closely with Production and key stakeholders, you will develop comprehensive maintenance work packages, coordinate resources, and ensure all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate aircraft line and base maintenance inputs in accordance with MAA regulatory requirements
- Review customer work packs to ensure alignment with Part 145 scope as defined in the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE)
- Develop and assemble detailed maintenance work packages, including milestones, resource allocation, and critical path analysis
- Create and amend task cards, identifying complex or non-routine maintenance requirements
- Produce equipment and resource summaries, covering tooling, access, materials, and parts
- Identify tasks requiring subcontractor or external agency support
- Conduct thorough reviews of work packages, highlighting safety-critical and time-sensitive activities
- Validate task cards for accuracy, completeness, and realistic time estimates
- Lead pre-input planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide on-site planning support throughout maintenance inputs
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with company procedures and regulatory standards

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience planning aircraft maintenance using technical documentation, including ground time estimation
- Strong working knowledge of MAA regulations and CAMO / Part 145 interfaces
- Previous experience in aircraft maintenance planning within civil or military aviation
- Excellent organisational skills with a structured and logical approach to task sequencing
- Understanding of Human Factors in maintenance planning
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels
- Experience with AMOS or similar maintenance planning systems
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Desirable
- Recognised aircraft engineering qualification
- Analytical or project management capability
- Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement practices
- Understanding of commercial and procurement processes within maintenance operations
