At CAE, we empower our teams to build missioncritical simulation training solutions that prepare pilots and maintainers for the real world.. As a Project Engineer, you’ll be the technical lead driving engineering execution, strengthening program performance, and shaping the solutions behind mission readiness. You’ll work out of our Binghamton location —an area known for its affordability, rich history, and proximity to the scenic Finger Lakes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

What You’ll Do: 

• Lead the engineering effort for your program, energizing teams and ensuring alignment across IPTs.  

• Drive major technical events—design reviews, peer reviews, and program milestones—while keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.  

• Own engineering scope, cost, schedule, and risk; maintain execution discipline through routine Cost Account Management (CAM) reviews.  

• Work closely with senior level program engineering management.   Interface with leadership, DoD customers, and government stakeholders.  

• Identify risks early, anticipate challenges, and guide smart, datadriven decisions.  

• Champion new ideas, improved processes, and emerging technologies that elevate performance.  

• Build strong relationships across teams, fostering trust, collaboration, and forward momentum.  

• Use your analytical mindset to simplify complexity and drive confident technical choices. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements   

What You Bring: 

• A BS in Engineering or equivalent experience, plus 8+ years of hands on technical or project leadership.  

• Excellent communication skills.  

• A proactive, accountable approach—you thrive under pressure and take ownership naturally.  

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and risk management skills.  

• Engineering lifecycle experience (requirements, design, build, test and delivery)  

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access. U.S. citizenship required.  

• Flexibility for occasional overtime, weekend/shift work, and CONUS travel.  

• Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.   

Preferred Skills   

• Earned Value Management (EVM) experience (Cost/Schedule/Technical) 

• Familiarity with DevSecOps  

• Defense or military experience and comfort operating in both Traditional and Agile environments.

Security Responsibilities   

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper spaning and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Work Environment   

• Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility. 

• Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required. 

Physical Demands

• Must be able to perform normal office duties (e.g. sitting for long periods at a desk)     

• Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS via car and airplane     

• Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator     

Salary Range: $153,300-$169,500 

The actual compensation rate is subject to the evaluation of the following factors (but not limited to): the candidates work experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and spanet.
