Description:This position is for the Propulsion Product Center Chief Engineer in a new special project area. This Chief Engineer can be located at either the Orlando or Dallas Missiles and Fire Control facility. The Propulsion Product Center CE will perform both technical and programmatic oversight duties while leading a cross functional Engineering and Technology (E&T) team to develop solid rocket motors.
The position is responsible for supporting the special project area in meeting all commitments including technical performance, schedule, and cost for both internal and external contractual commitments. The Chief Engineer will provide day-to-day technical management, mission success focus, and coaching through the design, test, and verification phases of development efforts including risk management and customer requirement validation throughout the product life cycle, and capturing new business opportunities. The Chief Engineer will continue to support the product center when entering the production phase of the project.
Role includes development of strategies across platforms and establishment of master test plans, developing SOWs to support hardware build and platform integration, developing and filling the organizational structure required to execute, and leading this diverse team to accomplish all contract scope. The CE will be required to establish collaboration relationships with appropriate consortiums in order to accelerate the development and increase speed of delivery to the customer.
The candidate will have a proven ability to lead technical efforts and requires excellent leadership skills. Demonstration of all the tenants of Full Spectrum Leadership in previous assignments is a must. Candidates must possess experience and initiative to ensure technical leadership. The candidate will interface with functional management to ensure program is appropriately staffed to successfully complete milestones. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the entire Chief Engineer staff to ensure synergy across tasks and to communicate lessons learned. The successful candidate will also be required to support technical reviews both on the program and at subcontractors.

The chief engineer must be able to actively manage a broad range of technical and programmatic activities including propulsion systems, modeling and simulation, materials and airframes, system test, safety, and post-fielding technical support to the user community. The position is responsible for technical risk management and mission success.

The position will require on site work and up to 50 travel for the first two years.
Basic Qualifications:
Strong project management, technical leadership, and customer communication skills required. Prior missile propulsion system experience and testing experience required.
The successful candidate must have prior technical leadership experience and be able to manage highly complex technical projects with little oversight. The candidate must be able to take general guidance from Leadership and strategically integrate it into the projects business rhythm.

The candidate must be able to manage a budget, forecast resources, and develop close working relationships with program leadership and functional managers. Candidate should have wide experience and familiarity in dealing with the Engineering & Technology functional organization.

Candidate must have a secret clearance within 5 years.

The position will require on site work and up to 50 travel for the first two years.

Experience in planning and leading technical solutions from proposal through all aspects of development. This includes SRR, PDR, CDR, Qualification, System Verification & Test, FCA and transition to production.

Familiarity and knowledge of missile systems combined with working experience with government customer is strongly desired.

Working knowledge of dealing with subcontractors and subcontract technical management.

Experience in leading Failure Analysis and Failure Review Boards.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
