Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring a Propulsion System Integration Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to perform propulsion system qualification support and analysis in the St. Louis, MO region! The statement of work will include new product design, development and integration projects in the areas of Fixed Wing Aircraft and/or Missile Systems.

Flight engineers are essential to the development, safety and success of our products and solutions. Each day, they go above and beyond to meet our customers’ overall mission requirements—from initial vehicle concept definition through design, test, validation and in-service support. Your expertise in areas such as Aerodynamics; Propulsion; Guidance, Navigation & Control; and Loads & Dynamics will drive the future of aerospace.

Would you be interested in working on an aircraft carrier to support the unmanned aerial-refueling MQ-25 vehicle?  Or flight testing of prototype and production manned and unmanned vehicles?  How about creating and running state-of-the-art vehicle simulations of the T-7 Redhawk and supporting flight and ground tests to verify predicted vehicle performance?  Or working on teams developing the next generation of tactical aircraft?  This is just a small sample of the exciting things our engineers do supporting our government customers and the people of the U.S. military.

The Flight Systems Engineering Capability is an exciting organization in Boeing Defense, Space & Security responsible for performing Flight Engineering across a large portfolio of products and development programs. Product areas within the Flight Systems Capability in the St. Louis/St. Charles region include Fighter Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft, and Missiles/Weapons Systems. The set of specialized capabilities and skills maintained by our teammates are the foundation of what defines the majority of our Boeing products; things that FLY!  The St. Louis region is continuing to grow, and Flight Engineering is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join the Boeing team on the exciting programs located in this region. Selected candidates will work a wide range of programs that will require design, analysis and testing in Flight disciplines to meet our customers requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform propulsion system support and analysis, as part of a larger flight science team

  • Review, processing and approval of engine and component qualification documentation

  • Define requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and air breathing systems.

  • Define, coordinate and control the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and vehicle.

  • Develop specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Configure/design propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.

  • Use various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.

  • Perform certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.

  • Develop concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.

  • Vendor management and coordination

Up to 10 domestic travel is expected.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3&43; years of experience in an engineering role

  • Experience with major propulsion system development, qualification, and/or verification.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • Propulsion ground and flight test

  • Propulsion analysis

  • Propulsion system installation

  • Propulsion system support

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel to support work requirements

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master&43;3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4):

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD&43;4 years related work experience, Master&43;7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range:

Mid-Level: 93,500 – 126,500

Senior: 113,900 – 154,100
