Summary Maintain/enhance quality management system to ensure continued compliance to customer and industry requirements (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100/AS13100). Monitor quality, technical and process activities for incoming raw materials for chip processing, melting and ancillary processes; review operating and test data; disposition processing non-conformances; evaluate ingot chemistry; ensure compliance with internal and customer purchase orders requirements; review applicable customer/industry specifications. Essential Functions Quality Assurance Functions: Maintain quality assurance program in accordance with the latest applicable customer and industry requirements (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100/AS13100), which includes procedure revisions and supporting documentation. Schedule and maintain supplier and internal audit program, including hazard review (FOD) risk assessments. Conduct/assign internal audits and ensure timely completion of reports. Conduct internal auditor training and maintain auditor qualification program. Prepare and conduct bi-annual Management Review Meetings. Facilitate external (customer and third party) quality systems audits of the Ravenswood plant. Maintain CAR/PAR program including periodic updates and reporting. Maintain document control system for retained documented information. Establish training programs as necessary to keep personnel updated in quality management system requirements. Conduct new hire and refresher quality training as required. Raw Materials and Supplier Manage System Functions: Serve as site raw material representative on the corporate Raw Material Committee and serve as site raw material auditor (scheduling, auditing, reports, CAR’s, updating DB, etc) maintaining the approved supplier list and supplier audit schedule. Plan and conduct supplier audits in alignment with TIMET’s Supplier Management program, including reporting. Liaise with other TIMET locations on raw materials / recycle materials development programs. Liaise with suppliers on any quality and technical issues, and to develop continual improvement / cost reduction opportunities Conduct raw material release functions in a timely manner, including review of vendor certificates and resolution of any supplier-related issues. Ensure overcheck inspections are conducted in accordance with procedures and provide timely disposition of any purchased, nonconforming product. Disposition nonconforming material, manage the quarantine system and implement corrective actions. Implement Management of Change (MOC) and Manufacturing Process Experiments (MPE) associated with raw material and raw material processing. Lead or participate in projects to improve the operation, instrumentation, or control of the raw material inspection and preparation processes and associated equipment. Control, maintain and approve updated suppliers MoM (Methods of Manufacture). Develop new raw material technology (manufacturing inspection). Develop raw material suppliers and recyclers (segregation, quality, alloys, etc.). Work with LTA customers and established buy-back programs to improve incoming quality. Review, approve and disposition of raw material (internal and suppliers) scrap NCR’s, PCR’s etc. Quality metric reporting (Chip FTP, acceptable LTA Buyback, etc). Additional Responsibilities Provide support for production personnel in the EB, Melt Shop and Raw Materials. Provide support for Process Engineering on all projects related the EB, Melt Shop and Raw Materials. Assists other Q&T activities, such as alloy and ingot chemistry database/formulation committee. Prepare statistical reports for customer submittals. Assess customer technical issues and work with research personnel as applicable to determine improvements plans. Education and Experience Minimum: BS degree in an Engineering field, Metallurgical/Chemical/Materials Science Engineering, or related field with 3-5 years in Engineering or Quality Control/Assurance in a manufacturing facility preferred. 5+ years in a Titanium Metallurgy or Quality Control/Assurance in a primary metals production facility preferred. Special Skills Quality assurance/engineering principles, metallurgical or material science engineering, SPC, general plant safety, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
