Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Numerical Control Quality Engineer - NCQA (Associate, Experienced or Senior) to support the Air Dominance Proprietary team in Mesa, Arizona.
This position may be located on either 1st or 2nd shift and follows a 9/80 working schedule. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future depending on the business needs.
This position will be in support of multi-disciplinary teams and duties include:
Provides expertise in inspection processes for numerical control, machining, programming and inspection of product produce by automated composite fabrication equipment.
Establishes technical requirements for manufacturing and producibility.
Plans and guides the development and integration of machining techniques, manufacturing methods, processes, software and equipment to support the design, manufacture and inspection of parts and assemblies.
Identifies equipment and approaches, coordinates and assigns work and trains/mentors others.
Works under minimal direction.
Inspectors in this position inspect tools, machined parts, and assemblies, for conformance with applicable drawings, specifications, quality standards and manufacturing plans, using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) like machines. Inspectors will also perform verification and validation of NC programs, in-process inspections, and audits.
Successful candidates will have experience with CNC Machining, Composite machining, writing inspection programs, CMM and probing measurement tools.
Position Responsibilities:
Follow numerical control programs, documents, drawings, specifications and quality standards to operate numerical controlled inspection and measuring machines and perform all inspection functions the machines are, or may be, adapted to perform.
Select proper tools, fixtures, attachments, or associated equipment and make setups to accomplish work assignments.
Manually operate various numerical control machines and inspection equipment to prove control media and/or perform inspection functions.
Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts assemblies or portions thereof, according to specification, process and procedures.
Support manufacturing and cross-functional team in Root Cause Corrective Action and defect reduction efforts related to NC machining and other composite fabrication automated processes
Perform audit/ surveillance of all manufacturing and quality assurance processes, according to specifications, process and procedures.
Use precision measuring instruments, devices, machines, gages, tools and associated equipment necessary to set up machine and/or perform layout for assigned work.
Use mathematics including geometry and trigonometry as required to perform work assignments.
Make inter-shift tie-ins, coordinate inspection activities, plan and arrange own work.
Refer discrepancies affecting work assignments to supervisor.
Devise and make checking fixtures or other shop aids as required to perform work assignments.
Assemble inspection data, maintain records and provide reports as required. *Including the electronic testing which does not require the application of electronic theory for interpretation or verification of results.
Verifies and revises Machine Control Data (MCD), geometry and documentation that directs the operations for a complete spectrum of numerically controlled equipment required to manufacture and inspect parts, tools and assemblies for departmental work
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Mesa, AZ.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
1+ year of experience as a Quality Inspector
1+ year of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Experience with Numerical Control (NC) programming
Experience with measurement systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 3: 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 4: 10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Active U.S Security Clearance
Experience conducting Inspections using ASME Standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Experience working with Unigraphics (UG)/NX CAD drawings, Vericut and/or similar programs
Experience working with laser trackers or a CMM (coordinate measurement machine)
Experience calibrating and/or using coordinate measurement machines, laser trackers, NC mills, Automated Fiber Placement machines and/or optical measurement devices
Knowledge of measurement systems (e.g., photogrammetry, coordinate measuring machines, laser tracker, laser radar, laser alignment, Keyence blue light scanning, and portable measurement tools).
Knowledge of technical data verification and validation practices (e.g., Technical review of Engineering Data, Laboratory simulation, or actual procedure demonstration)
Knowledge of production processes and data needed for defining delivery configurations (e.g., design definition, program directives, and engineering drawings).

Summary pay range for associate level (Level 2): USD 73,100– 98,900
Summary pay range for experienced level (Level 3): USD 88,400– 119,600
Summary pay range for senior level (Level 4): USD 108,800 – 147,200
