For our Engineering Material Group, specifically our Lord Noise Vibration & Harshness Division – we are looking for a Quality Engineer for our Plant in Monzambano, focused on rubber to metal and steer by wire devices.
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing quality systems for internal manufacturing processes, improve supplier processes, act as a customer support contact, as well as support the Quality labs in day-to-day engineering support activities for solving manufacturing problems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production;
- Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques;
- Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerances, and materials related issues;
- Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources;
- Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements;
- Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness;
- Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup;
- Collaborate with Product Design and Process Engineering to develop D/P-FMEA;
- On the base of P-FMEA action plan and programs to validate production processes, interact with Process Engineering to ensure all verifications are done and show product compliance to internal and customer requirements;
- Maintain Control Plans and FMEAs throughout the life of the part;
- Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action;
- Apply appropriate use of statistical techniques;
- Determine and apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools;
- Conduct analyses of existing processes when necessary, evaluating results, proposing solutions, and subsequently verifying outcomes to monitor effectiveness;
- Ensure that specific customer requirements are met throughout the production process;
- Support the execution of production trials prior to product launch to ensure readiness and compliance;
- Collaborate with other business functions to ensure proper execution of checks that demonstrate compliance with customer requirements;
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve customer complaints regarding product quality;
- Utilize measurement system analysis tools appropriately to ensure accuracy and reliability;
- Ensure alignment with the objectives and principles of the Win Strategy: Engaged People, Customer Experience, Profitable Growth, and Financial Performance.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing;
- 2 to 4+ years of experience in manufacturing environment (automotive). Tier1 or Tier2 automotive supplier is a strong plus;
- Knowledge of APQP and PPAP, statistical methods and international quality standards;
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and regulations;
- Familiarity with total quality concepts, ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 procedures;
- Quality plans, SPC, FMEA, PPAP experience:
- Continuous improvement and Lean Techniques knowledge;
- Fluent in English and Italian;
- Proficiency in MS Office package.
