As an R&D Engineer Scientist I within UOPs Crafts & Services Group, you will play a critical role in supporting the operation and advancement of our cutting-edge pilot plant facilities. This hands-on position offers a unique opportunity to blend technical electrical expertise with real-world R&D applications in a highly collaborative environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of experimental units by managing electrical systems, supporting plant maintenance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of R&D infrastructure. LOCATION: The job is based out of the Des Plaines, IL facility, and you must be able to work at our McCook facility up to 2 days per week.

The annual base salary range for this position is $65,500 - $83,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and specifications.
•Estimate material, labor, and equipment costs for electrical projects.
•Develop detailed electrical plans and schedules for projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
•Prepare and review technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
•Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
•Maintain accurate records of project activities, changes, and updates.
•Develop maintenance standards and best practices.
•Train new hires and cross-train colleagues within the team.
•Support continuous operation of Pilot Plants and Continuous Improvement efforts, attending daily planning meetings, and maintaining parts inventory.
•Travel to the Des Plaines, IL or Riverside facility in McCook, IL as needed.
YOU MUST HAVE:
•High School Diploma or GED
•5+ years of experience working as an Electrician or related field

•Mechanical aptitude in multiple trades (electrical, pipe fitting, welding, machining, mechanic)
•Planner experience

•Outstanding collaboration and interpersonal skills
•Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel

•Working knowledge of process control including plant instruments
•In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, and industry standards.
•Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems such as 3u00D8 delta and 3u00D8 wye as well as motor control centers.
•Ability to drive safety performance for the group, ensuring work is performed according to HS&E policies and procedures
•Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
•Experience and skill working with hand tools.
•Experience working with P&IDs.
