ABOUT THE ROLE

As an R&D Engineer/Scientist II, you will be responsible for conducting research and development activities to drive the development of innovative solutions. You will utilize your technical expertise in areas related to navigation, controls, system/software design, data analysis, algorithm development, or related fields to contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge technologies. Your role will involve designing and conducting experiments, simulations, and analyses to drive the development of new navigation technologies and products.

As part of the Navigation, Controls, and Surveillance team within Advanced & Applied Technology, you will be at the forefront of research to drive autonomy and navigation work for our customers, especially in the area of GPS-denied navigation. You will play a crucial role in driving technological advancements, shaping the future of the company, and contributing to Honeywells commitment to addressing global challenges through innovative solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute as part of a team conducting research and development related to navigation systems
  • Work on designing, developing, and testing navigation systems and associated navigation algorithms
  • Software and hardware integration of navigation systems
  • Understand customer needs and interface with customers as a key technical focal
  • Support proposals as a technical contributor
  • Travel: up to 15 (US/International)
  • Hybrid work schedule
  • Reports to:Sr R&D Manager
  • Relocation support may be provided
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

MUST HAVE

  • 2+ years of experience in areas such as navigation, state estimation, robotics, controls, system integration, algorithm development, or related fields
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

WE VALUE

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in research and/or proposal writing
  • Experience utilizing Kalman filters, particle filters, or similar estimation filters
  • Experience with C/C++, MATLAB and/or Python
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong understanding of algorithm development
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
