Job Description:
The Rotating Parts and Compressor Airfoils (RPCA) Advanced Manufacturing Quality Engineer will drive Management of Change and deployment of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) within the internal RPCA manufacturing organization to ensure on-time supply of production engine components, at cost and rate, that conform to GE Aerospace manufacturing and quality requirements.The Advanced Manufacturing Quality Engineer will lead standardization of tools and process to be followed throughout the business and will work closely with other functions to develop the strategy and effectively implement a zero-defect culture through the Aerospace AS9145 APQP standard and AS13100 quality standard. Ensures that the RPCA part family will continually develop the Management of Change process in line with the design intent of the customer and verify their systems to ensure they are compliant with the end customer’s needs. You will be an APQP functional and technical expert within the RPCA part family, with responsibility for leading operational improvement and mentoring technical talent within GE Aerospace.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage the APQP process for legacy product implementing a zero-defect strategy utilizing APQP concepts and deliverables.   
  • Develop procedures and work instructions that support APQP and AS9145 / AS13100 requirements.
  • Accountable for overall Management of Change as defined by established processes, policies, and tools for internal RPCA part family legacy hardware and programs.
  • Support APQP application for legacy product to ensure that RPCA meets the required standards while promoting a zero-defect culture as a mentor/coach for various projects and/or different engine programs.
  • Lead/Develop roadmaps that lead to successful integration of Management of Change and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) into existing policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and communication of Source Change and/or NPI plan execution to partner pillars, respective commodity teams and customer program focal points. Communicate progress and lessons learned to inform future strategy for the RPCA part family.
  • Collaborate with various leaders in different functions to understand best approach to implementing changes within legacy product management
  • Train and coach individuals and teams on various elements within Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) such as FMEAs, Gage R&Rs, Control Plans, MSA, etc.
  • Lead key elements in all stages of APQP and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.
  • Collaborate with various leaders in different functions to develop and implement a review process for ensuring rigor and quality of completed deliverables.
  • Generate executive summaries that clearly indicate status, business impact and significant issues related to NPI projects, Work with cross functional teams from RPCA internal shops to coach/mentor all deliverables of APQP.
  • Includes qualifications, action plans, audits, and assisting internal shops toward industrial standards of excellence.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable requirements within the GE Aerospace AS9100 quality system.
  • Regularly engage in continuous learning and continuous improvement activities.

  • This role is an individual contributor, with proven interpersonal skills. Communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services. Provides informal guidance to new team members. Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
  • The role operates with some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities/provision of advice within an enabling discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Activities require professional judgment but may require more senior levels of guidance.
  • Travel to support multiple internal GE Aerospace sites, work with suppliers, and take part in external training or conferences as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering).
  • A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing and/or Quality Engineering automotive or aerospace experience.
