Job Summary

The Sales Engineer (Cutting Tools) performs all plant engineering functions in planning, design and modification of cutting tools and manufacturing processes.  Resolves production problems and completes documentation on assigned cutting tools. Interfaces with customers as needed.  Generally operates with appreciable latitude for non-reviewed action or decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

•    Determines the sequence of operations in the manufacture of cutting tools.
•    Prepares and updates routers and operation sheets.  Researches new manufacturing methods.
•    Establishes manufacturing standards and equipment.
•    Implements new product design and introduction
•    Determines and troubleshoots manufacturing processes at all levels of complexity.
•    Engineers tools, fixture and gauging design modifications.
•    Gives technical direction to CAD/CAM, production, and inspection personnel as needed.
•    Implements “Lean” practices and procedures.
•    Coordinates cutting tool inspection procedures with Quality Engineers.
•    Problem solving to determine and document root causes. 
•    Develops corrective actions to prevent future problem occurrences.
•    Interfaces with internal and external Customers to resolve any issues such as Quality, Delivery, etc
•    Coordinates with outside vendors consumables    
•    Performs other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications:


•    Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or 4 years of equivalent manufacturing experience and training.  
•    2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or the equivalent engineering experience in manufacturing processes, materials, and designs.    
•    US Citizenship required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of cutting tool geometry
  • Fundamental knowledge or experience with CNC cutter grinding machines
  • Experience with commonly used software such as WALTER Tool Studio and ANCA ToolDraft
  • Experience with Walter grinding machines (HELITRONIC Power, HELITRONIC Vision) and Walter inspection equipment (Helicheck)
  • Project Management skills/experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
