The Electrical Component and System Senior Engineer demonstrates leadership in the execution of business priorities, engaging globally and with industrial partners to develop advanced/emerging technologies and to support significant upgrades of fielded product lines.

The Electrical Component and System Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the proposal, development, integration, validation, certification/qualification of the engine’s electrical systems and components for Military and Commercial applications. These electrical systems and components include the full authority digital engine control (FADEC), ignition systems, communication systems, electric power systems, and complex sensing systems.

As an Electrical Component and System Senior Engineer, you will be involved in development of electrical component/systems over full product design cycle (concept to new product introduction) for use in turbofan turbojet and turboshaft turboprop engine controls for customers such as Airbus, Boeing, Sikorsky, Bell and Leonardo helicopter as well as the US Army & Navy. In addition, you will be responsible to address critical field, manufacturing, and production issues related to engine’s electrical systems and components.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of component and/or subsystem development projects to implement upgrades and improvements on fielded control systems electrical products.
  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or
    tasks.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Lead supplier and purchase service engineering teams to develop and qualify new Electrical Systems hardware design and test.
  • Support of electrical system for engine-aircraft integration.
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to product and customer issues.
  • Support of field investigations and lead the related electrical system and component investigations.
  • Individual contributor efforts as well as mentoring and guidance of less experienced engineers in the execution of assigned projects and the application of development processes.
  • Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product/program requirements.
  • Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements.
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, vendor substantiation, schedules and contract commitments.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant
    developments.
  • Lead the strategic coordination and integration of external suppliers as well as joint venture and vertical partners to meet product line and business objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in an aerospace or electrical engineering position.
  • Previous experience with electrical components (exciter, pressure/temp sensors, electrical actuators, electrical harnesses, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the analysis and resolution of technical or programmatic problems while executing a project objective.
  • Strongly exhibits interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Understand key cross-functional concepts that impact the organization; is aware of business priorities and organizational dynamics.
  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements; champions and drives change initiatives; confronts obstacles.
  • Open-minded to new perspectives or ideas. Consider different or unusual solutions when appropriate.
