Job Description:

Aircraft Structural Stress Engineer responsible for stress analysis, finite element modeling, structural integrity assessment, and certification support for metallic and composite aircraft structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5-7+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience with a Master of Science degree
  • Experience with primary aircraft structures
  • Experience with airframe static stress analysis for composite structures
  • Experience with airframe static stress analysis for metallic structures
  • Experience with airframe fatigue stress analysis for composite structures
  • Experience with airframe fatigue stress analysis for metallic structures
  • Knowledge of industry-standard classical analysis methods
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis methods
  • Experience authoring stress notes and stress reports
  • Experience supporting disposition of non-conformances
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5, V6, or 3DX
  • Proficiency with ENOVIA V5, V6, or 3DX
  • Knowledge of typical airframe structural design criteria
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 23 certification requirements and processes

Preferred Skills

  • Femap experience
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience performing Durability and Damage Tolerance assessments
  • Experience developing stress analysis tools and methodologies
  • Experience comparing structural test results to analytical models
  • Experience supporting new, supplemental, or experimental certification under FAR Part 23 Subparts C and D

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis of metallic and composite structural components, assemblies, and systems
  • Provide stress analysis inputs to aircraft structural design
  • Verify structural integrity through analysis
  • Author, review, and approve analysis documentation
  • Create and utilize finite element models
  • Perform Durability and Damage Tolerance assessments
  • Review and approve engineering definitions for release in product lifecycle management systems
  • Author, review, and approve structural test plans and reports
  • Compare structural test results to finite element models
  • Develop stress analysis tools and methodologies
  • Support multi-disciplinary configuration development and trade studies
  • Interface with materials and processes teams
  • Interface with structural test laboratories
  • Interface with flight test teams
  • Interface with manufacturing teams
  • Interface with customers and regulatory authorities
  • Review, guide, and support certification programs under FAR Part 23 Subparts C and D
  • Mentor junior team members


Pay Details: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour
