The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Design Engineer in support of follow-on testing for the B-1B Flight Test Program. This position is part of a collaborative team developing instrumentation systems to collect flight test data and is located out of Edwards Air Force Base, CA. You will be part of an integrated test team supporting the ongoing testing and future support of the B-1B.
The ideal candidate will have good organizational skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Design, document, build, test, troubleshoot, and modify mechanical parts, electrical systems, power distribution systems, and wire harnesses for B-1B aircraft instrumentation systems
Develop, prepare, check and coordinate designs, drawings, and manufacturing planning as needed for instrumentation systems as per applicable Boeing standards
Develop test plans and procedures
Research components to integrate into future instrumentation system designs to meet customer requirements
Support instrumentation preflights on B-1B aircraft
Prepare requisitions and specifications for procurement agents
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop solutions for the customer and other stakeholders
Work within a flight test environment (Aircraft, Flight Line, and Laboratory)
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years of experience in engineering design development
3+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD)
3+ years of experience creating engineering drawings
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
Familiar with MIL-STD-1553 and/or MIL-STD-1760 communication protocols
Familiar with aircraft systems
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $121,550 – $164,450
