Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer III develops and implements the manufacturing processes required to support achievement of company daily, weekly and quarterly performance goals in the area safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost. This position typically spends 50 of work time on the production floor and 50 of work time in an office environment. Must be a US citizen to be in the position
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Main point of contact for technical support to operations and quality.
- Develop new and improve existing manufacturing processes by leading and participating in Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
- Lead and participate in corrective action team investigations from cradle to grave with minimal assistance.
- Lead review of nonconforming parts and assemblies with the goal of reintroducing material to value stream.
- Lead and participate in capital acquisition projects from proposal to execution.
- Analyze production data with the goal of proposing and executing solutions to existing and potential problems.
- Ability to manage production needs, continuous improvement projects, and capital projects with minimal assistance.
- Ability to coordinate within engineering, interdepartmentally and with vendors on production needs, continuous improvement projects, and capital projects with minimal assistance.
- Develop new and support existing manufacturing processes including tooling, equipment, and documentation (i.e. work instructions, procedures, etc.)
- Review manufacturing engineering documentation, procedures, and tool designs developed by lower level engineers.
- Ability to create and review technical documentation and drawings (Blueprints) necessary to implement new process or improve current processes.
- Foster a “Safety 24/7” culture; driving safety initiatives to ensure zero safety related incidents annually.
- Utilize PCC toolboxes such as Lean Six Sigma to improve factory performance.
- Ability to conduct engineering analysis and provide supporting documentation to receive buy-off interdepartmentally on proposed projects and initiatives independently.
- Ability to train and support lower level engineers.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a minimum of three of the following metal working processes: Flow Forming, Cold Extrusion, Heat Treatment, CNC/Manual Machining, Tig Welding, Electron Beam Welding, EDM, open die or closed die Forging
- Strong understanding of Steel, Aluminum and Nickel Alloy Metallurgy and processing
- Extensive knowledge in a minimum of 2 Non-destructive Testing (Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle Inspection, X-Ray) and Destructive Testing (Mechanical Tensile Testing, Hydrostatic Testing).
- Strong Mechanical Intuition related to Machine design and processing.
- Experience leading RCCA investigations and methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why’s, Fishbone, and System Analysis
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- 2+ years of Aerospace/Defense industry experience
- CAD (SolidWorks preferred) or 3D modeling system operation knowledge at an intermediate level.
- Project Management experience
- Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong Technical Writing Skills
- Ability to read and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing at Proficient Level
- Excellent computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office Products.
- Intermediate level Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system knowledge. Experience in Oracle and/or Syteline is Preferred.
Education/Certifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering degree, Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred
Language Ability:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
