The Boeing Company’s Information Technology (IT) Network Infrastructure Services team is currently seeking a Senior Network Designer to join the team in either Berkeley, MO or Hazelwood, MO

This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) business organization. A successful candidate will understand the importance of collaboration as these positions will focus on working directly with IT Business Success Leaders and BDS stakeholders to implement and maintain communications and network systems enabling the BDS business to meet their organizational and program goals.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Determines strategic requirements for network designs

  • Provides strategic input on architectural designs, network technology products and services and the integration and coordination of regional and enterprise wide multi-technology products and services

  • Collaborates with multiple organizations in IT to build out and implement a cloud strategy for specialty networks

  • Partners with leadership to prioritize work based on value, funding and strategic importance

  • Uses program plans and technical research to recommend technological applications to accomplish long-range objectives.

  • Acts as a senior network architect to assess program requirements and integrate activities of other employees to accomplish program objectives

  • Designs networks to meet high throughput capabilities as well as five-nines availability

  • Manages the scope of work for program activities and interaction with connected sites and partners

  • Manages multiple project activities and prioritization as necessary

  • Identifies resources needed for successful accomplishment

  • Oversees and collaborates to accomplish Network Design, equipment procurement, equipment configuration and installation, cable and wire design and implementation, network break-fix, security plan integration, equipment decommission and surplus, capital/expense planning to ensure that the programs have a secure communications network to perform program development and execution in support of program customer

  • Supports hardware and software to Secure Network, Secure Voice and other non-standard system integration

  • Support to security activities such as United States (US) government Risk Management Framework (RMF) Compliance, Security Evaluation Checklists, device sanitization, contamination cleanup, and support to the management of System Security Plans

  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with customers, stakeholders and peers

  • Exercises critical thinking and innovative problem solving

  • Acts as the initial point of escalation for issues or challenges encountered by the team

  • Triages and de-escalated issues with impacted parties

  • Travels to remote sites required (approx. 10)

  • Develops and executes project and process plans and implements policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates the Boeing Seek, Speak and Listen behaviors in a deliberate and observable way

This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):  

  • 10+ years of experience with Design, Implementation and Troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)

  • 10+ years of experience with Cisco routers and switches & Cisco IOS implementations

  • 10+ years of experience utilizing Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network protocols

  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or higher)

  • Ability to obtain a Full Scope and/or CI Polygraph

  • Ability to support after-hours change windows and implementations

  • Willing to cover on call shifts, including weekends and after hours

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco Certification

  • Experience with Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud

  • Experience with Data Center Networking technologies i.e. Nexus VPC, VDC, VXLAN, and ACI type architecture

  • Experience with Palo Alto next generation firewall systems

  • Experience with IPSEC and/or GRE tunnel configurations

  • Experience with Arista CloudVision

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience, 18 years related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $136,000 – $184,000
