Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operations Center Systems Engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, CA. This position requires flexibility in work hours and shifts. This includes supporting our customers when needed during nights, weekends, and holidays. Generally, the work schedule consists of 7 days on and 7 days off, with shifts typically being 12AM to 12PM or 12PM to 12AM.
The Operations Center Systems Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting various airplane systems problems in real-time for operators around the world. In cases where real-time troubleshooting is not possible, the Systems Engineer conducts research on complex technical, maintenance, operational, and quality issues to resolve customer inquiries.
As a representative of the Boeing Company, you will work with airline customers worldwide with the goal of enhancing the working relationship between the Boeing Operations Center (BOC), Boeing Field Service (BFS), and customer Maintenance Operations Control Centers (MOCC). You will assist Operators with post-delivery regulatory actions applicable to their airplanes and ensuring product design, integrity, and safety of the in-service airplanes. You will be responsible for analyzing equipment failures to determine root cause, participating in the development of design, operational, and logistical changes to enhance the safety and efficiency of the airplane while reducing costs, and optimizing continuous operations.
Our preferred candidate will have a broad knowledge of Boeing Commercial Airplane systems to support a fast-paced 24/7 environment, and to solve urgent/AOG (Aircraft on Ground) customer issues. The preferred candidate will have a working knowledge of some Boeing aircraft hydro-mechanical systems, fluid systems, landing gear systems, payloads systems, environmental control systems, propulsion & fuel systems, electrical systems, avionics systems, flight controls systems, general systems design and/or repair, and systems troubleshooting.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Senior (level 4 or level 5) Systems Engineers.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops airplane solutions that resolve Urgent/AOG systems problems
Generates interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service
Develops solutions utilizing sound engineering logic, experience, and available published data
Assesses system failures and develops solutions for continued safe operation of aircraft
Conducts root cause analysis and develops corrective action to rectify problems
Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues
Provides troubleshooting assistance to customers via phone, email, or Boeing Communications System
Collaborates with other support groups to develop solutions
Communicates directly with customers to understand problems and underlying issues
Communicates customers perspective to other organizations
Conducts research on product problems, including analyzing drawings, online data, past performance data, and other engineering resources
Writes customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards
Possesses a customer first attitude that results in an excellent customer experience every time.
Creates initial plans for on-site support to customer operations
Develops and provides technical briefings for management, customers, and engineering team members
Implements technical training curriculum for internal or external customers
Identifies and implements process improvements
Maintains group performance metrics
Leads efforts that drive customer self-sufficiency
Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
Creates and deploys technical trainings in areas of expertise
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
8+ years of experience with airplanes, airline operations in maintenance & engineering, procurement, or logistics
Project Management Experience
Able to and willing to work 2nd shift (24/7/365-day operation. Saturday and Sunday may be required work days)
Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):
10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or maintenance engineering with commercial or military airplane programs
Experience with product Certification Systems, CFAR parts 91.409, 21, 25, 43, 65, 119, 121, and 145
Experience working with, establishing, and maintaining strong business relationships with airline customers
Boeing 7-Series and/or McDonnell Douglas aircraft experience
Experience using Microsoft Office products
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface with senior-level executives
Typical Education/Experience:
(Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
(Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for Senior (Level 4): $128,350 – $173,650
Summary Pay Range for Senior (Level 5): $157,250 - $212,750
