DoD Clearance: Top SecretThe Mission Systems Environmental Effects Engineering team at Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Electrical / Nuclear Effects Engineer to join our staff. This position will be responsible to support the multidisciplinary environment across different strategic business units within the company with their nuclear radiation hardness requirements capture, design and test.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to nuclear effect-related activities, working with a team of experienced nuclear survivability engineers for assigned projects and delivering comprehensive support from the design phase through qualification. You will advise on risk mitigation strategies, including parts selection and circuit design optimization, as well as conducting nuclear hardening analysis of components to determine testing requirements. Your responsibilities will include leading testing efforts in specialized environments such as Total Ionizing Dose, Neutron Displacement Damage, Ionizing Dose Rate, and Neutron Single Event Effects, while working closely with electrical design engineers to provide actionable circuit feedback. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and qualify products and subsystems of moderate to high complexity. Additionally, you will manage documentation, including preparing and reviewing nuclear test plans and reports while contributing to Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
You will also play an important role in program pursuits and bid estimates, translation of nuclear requirements, and ensure hardness assurance throughout the product life cycle. Beyond technical duties, you will utilize strong communication skills to support production services, communicate technical results, present findings to customers and mid-level managers, and coordinate with departments such as Business Development, Finance, and Operations. This position requires you to independently handle multiple projects and tasks.

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Must be willing to travel 10 of the time
BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics
Experience with nuclear radiation effects
Understanding of electrical circuits
Qualifications We Prefer:
Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc…)
Ability to read/understand electronic schematics
Experience with HCI and HCP spaning and controls
Experience with component level nuclear analysis
Experienced testing per MIL-STD-883 at a component to box level in nuclear radiation environments
Ability to statistically reduce test data
Experience with MIL-STD-2169 and MIL-STD-3023 analysis and testing
Knowledge of CBRN contaminants, decontamination, and hardening
Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to write technical material and present to customers and mid-level managers
Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
