Job Description:

A new position of Software Design Assurance Engineer has opened within Airbus Operations GmbH in Hamburg (Finkenwerder). In this position, you will join the Hardware and Software Qualification department. 

Our mission :

All along the design life cycle of embedded equipment, our team ensures safe and mature products, based on our high expertise level in hardware and software development, by auditing and challenging the development processes of our suppliers. 

We define and provide a process involving practices, tools and techniques to substantiate, at an adequate level of confidence, that errors in requirements, design and implementation have been identified and corrected in a way that the system satisfies the applicable certification basis

Our transnational team adds significant added value to Airbus by challenging and supporting our suppliers and EASA/FAA on technical topics and design processes.

We are present at every Airbus site across Europe, supporting all aircraft programs and Centers of Competence. This involves working closely with numerous suppliers in Europe, North America, and India.

The mains tasks :

The jobholder is responsible to ensure that embedded software delivered by our suppliers is qualified and certifiable. To fulfill this objective, the main tasks will be to :

• Assess suppliers all along the product development life cycle.

• Manage design reviews for embedded software to ensure compliance with the DO-178 standard.

• Monitor and check whether Airbus standards and international regulations are fulfilled.

• Identify and report the development risks and issues (process & product).

• Coordinate certification requirements with authorities.

• Capture and share best practices for embedded airborne software.

• Define internal process & product requirements and provide support or training for their implementation.

• Participate in the selection of the suppliers. 

As the ideal candidate, your professional qualifications & experience include: 

• Degree in software engineering or comparable qualification, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience,

• Good knowledge of the regulatory standard DO-178

• Experience with other standards like DO-330, DO-331, DO-332, DO-200 and/or Airbus standards is a plus.

• Experience with “Model-Based Software Development&34; Methodologies and related tools (e.g. Simulink, SCADE) would be a plus

• Good communication and presentation skills,

• Ability to structure, synthesize & visualize complex topics,

• Good negotiation skills as well as self-confidence,

• Fluent in English and advanced level in German.
