Summary

The Software Developeru2019s primary function is to support the Instructor Support Systems & User Interface group in software implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for code, test, and documentation of Instructor Support System software designs, requiring the application of current industry design concepts and utilization of basic technical writing skills.
  • Support the companyu2019s needs by designing and implementing software solutions for internal and external applications.
  • Assist with needs assessment consultations within Engineering and beta testing with the users of the software.
  • Maintain and develop new features to internal and external facing software to enhance the customer experience and resolve issues on various operating systems
  • Particular emphasis will be placed on schedule, performance, budget, and other skills not normally attained in college.
  • Assignments will be geared towards learning real-time programming techniques for flight simulation and graphical user interface (GUI) applications.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required in this position as interfacing with fellow group members and other engineering group members is essential to the learning process.
  • The person in this position will be expected to report work status concisely and accurately to the Engineering Manager as requested.
  • Must be able to perform effectively as part of the project "team".

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • B S degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Network Architectures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Analytical math skills necessary to complete the required tasks.
  • Technical areas of expertise must include: current software development methodologies and tools (C, C++, C, WPF, WCF, CSS, Angular JS, REST, Python, Html, OpenSceneGraph, OpenGL, Networking)
  • Related skill areas should include: technical writing and presentation.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • May be required to sit down for long lengths of time.
  • May be required to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator
  • Must be able to support rack mounted equipment (up to 7 feet off the ground).
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
