The Boeing Company is currently looking for a Software Engineering Manager for the Commercial Aviation Training Solutions program located in Seattle, WA.  The successful candidate will have a passion for teamwork delivering exceptional software products to Boeing’s internal and external customers involved in the training and certification of pilots and mechanics on Boeing aircraft.  Additionally, the successful candidate brings experience leading commercial cloud-based and mobile application software development at scale throughout the software lifecycle.  The successful candidate will have experience with Agile processes, scheduling, project management, and designing fault tolerant high-availability low-latency applications. Responsibilities include people management, schedule management, risk management, and oversite of the delivery of high-quality customer value.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead senior software engineers and offshore development teams through the software development life-cycle

  • Oversee design, development, analyses, maintenance, and use of best practices to meet industry, customer and internal quality, safety, security, and training standards

  • Oversee and maintain Boeing Flight training Center operations software

  • Lead the development and maintenance of aviation maintenance training applications

  • Lead the development and maintenance of airline transport pilot flight training and assessment applications

  • Lead the development and maintenance of early career pilot flight training and assessment applications

  • Identify and implement industry best practices to improve the performance and efficiency of the software development teams working within the program

  • Travel to India, Australia, and Germany as necessary to maintain team morale and grow team capabilities

  • Grow and develop the skills and abilities of resources within the organization

  • Hold individuals accountable for meeting stated goals and value delivery

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with peers, business partners, customers, and other stakeholders

  • Collaborate with the organization’s senior leadership team representing the training solutions program

  • Discover and investigate new capabilities which can be leveraged by Boeing to enhance training effectiveness

This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in leading or managing software engineering activities

  • 3+ years of experience developing software products in a cloud computing environment e.g. Azure/AWS/Google Cloud

  • 1+ years of experience with mobile application development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience employing generative AI and agentic AI to improving software development efficiency and effectiveness

  • Experience implementing A/B feature testing infrastructures

  • Experience developing and driving software technical roadmaps

  • Experience validating existing and proposed software application architectures

  • Experience managing engineering capacity against roadmaps and critical deliverables

  • Experience creating product deployment and rollout plans

  • Experience coordinating development activities across many different technical and business organizations

Summary pay range for Manager: $171,700 - $232,300
