As a Sr Automation Engineer, you will be an experienced and recognized expert (SME), an author and owner of the strategic plans and objectives. You will define periodic changes to optimize the system in place (called Management Operating System MOS) and the regulations and rules of the team. You will lead by example in the application of lean principles and profiles in at least one of the specialties (Vision, Machine Connectivity) and mentor a group of 3-5 individuals.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement and innovation in the manufacturing environment 
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, validation, capital cost, ROI, risk management and effective analysis to deliver automated manufacturing equipment connected to the Process Control Network (PCN) in compliance with company IT security regulations. 
  • Understand PLC Data Acquisition and design solutions based on site requirements and automation machine capability to ensure data collection and monitoring
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Procurement, Engineering, AERO IT, Enterprise Architecture, Corporate IT, Operational Technology (OT), Ignition Deployment, Network Architecture, Manufacturing, Design, Quality, ISC teams to place orders for new equipment (Capital Planning System) 
  • Owns, develops and is responsible for a pipeline of projects within a specific technology area (Vision, Machine Connectivity) at 1-2 sites 
  • Is responsible to execute a balanced portfolio of projects with a minimum of 3 years view.  
  • Understand the budget/schedule, manage Capital Planning System (CPS) requests, drive CPS execution 
  • Responsible for the management, design, deployment, and implementation of automation projects hardware and software that monitor and/or control the manufacturing process. 
  • Create Statement of Work and Project Charter with hands-on collaboration with vendor(s) and integrator(s).  
  • Ensure thorough risk analysis (via tools like PFMEA) to mitigate challenges with machine or process qualification steps.  
  • Ensures logical and systematic implementation of system requirements into a solution that meets technical, time and cost objectives at selected Honeywell locations. 
  • Based on other specialization and focus, applies his or her knowledge and skills in project teams  
  • Utilizes appropriate simulation tools in evaluating the current state and designing future solutions in manufacturing. 
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development
  • Travel 10-25 
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience working with operational technology systems in a manufacturing environment, with a track record of leadership and successful project delivery.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly (e.g., PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA scripting, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Object Oriented Programming).
  • Knowledge of technologies such as SCADA, process control systems, MES, SAP, industrial networks, and related protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP).

WE VALUE

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation, data analytics, and optimization techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices, particularly as they apply to OT systems.
  • Six Sigma Lean Expert or Black Belt or PMP Certified
  • Work in a matrix environment with a focus on building relationships and driving improvements over multiple locations
  • Experience with Web Development (ASP.NET),
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive innovation and change.
  • Organization, time management, strategic planning to keep projects aligned to budget and schedule
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
