We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bells High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth, Texas Headquarters and will support all manufacturing and logistics facilities in DFW.
Sr. Packaging Engineer
This Engineering role is responsible for developing new Packaging Solutions in support development of shipping solutions for aircraft component(s) from various manufacturing facilities to final assembly locations in Texas.
This role is also responsible for designing the reusable shipping containers and meeting all related safety requirements for shipping manufactured components.
This role involves daily close collaboration with cross-functional teams, Manufacturing Plant Management, Engineering, Facilities, IT, Safety and Environmental, Logistics and Plant Operations manufacturing teams, to ensure successful packaging solutions that align with project goals and sustainability objectives.
What you’ll be doing as a Packaging Engineer:
Creates functional technical packaging design for fabrication of protective packaging containers for components needing to be moved safely throughout Texas manufacturing to final assembly locations. This role will design, prototype and test packaging solutions.
Participate in resolving engineering design, packaging quality, materials and testing issues, including troubleshooting directly with the packaging team.
Prepare packaging documentation including, detailed drawings, specifications, handling and shipping instructions, and inspection criteria as directed.
Using functional technical packaging design specifications and drawings; directly guides suppliers and contractors through quotation, design, fabrication, and acceptance testing.
Maintains vendor and contractor relationships as necessary to assure the continued supportability of Packaging Solutions procurement actions as well as budget planning efforts.
Oversee the implementation of the Packaging Solutions and resolve technical problems for both new components and repairs of old packaging equipment.
Become knowledgeable in Texas rules and regulations for transporting goods over the road, adhering to size and weight limits, width, length, permits needed for oversize, super loads, and permitted hours of movement.
Develop Packaging Engineering projects that generate cost savings / lean improvements. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
Make recommendations of the workflow design to ensure efficient packaging systems and processes.
Meet regularly with Plant Leadership to review current and future Packaging projects.
Manage project schedule and budget. This position is responsible for planning, budgeting, acquisition, installation, and surplus of items within funding requirements.
Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of role.
