Job Description SummaryThis opening is for a Staff Engineer role for High Pressure Turbines – Structures hardware owner within GE90/GP engineering section at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Centre. Primary job requirement is to deliver through execution, mentoring and collaboration with cross functional team on GE90/GP major program deliverables. You will build and utilize multiple skillsets including analysis, design, and manufacturing for structural components. You will be doing activities linked to technical improvement of existing components and products, resolution of issues corresponding to field finding, component manufacturing and delivery.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of the High Pressure Turbine structures using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Prepare and present technical data to customers.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to team supporting the design.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Lead technical projects through excellent Operational excellence & rhythm with high levels of complexity through collaboration
  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements
  • Ensure hardware delivery of parts owned by addressing non-conformance at manufacturing or deviations from filed findings.
  • Leverage digital tools & analyze the data insights to drive appropriate actions like Engine Service Manual limit extensions, Productivity , etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors/ Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum 10 years  of work experience on Mechanical Design of Gas Turbine components

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing timing and quality of outcomes

  • Established project management skills

  • Deep Functional Expertise in relevant engineering discipline and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with GE Aerosapce engineering design methodology and hardware knowledge of hot frames/structures/Casings
  • Understanding of manufacturing & inspection processes, repair methods
  • Adaptability to leverage Digital & Analytics tools to drive data driven decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and networks both within GE and with Suppliers
