Job Description SummaryAs a Staff Engineer – Thermal on the Advanced Programs IR/Thermal Design Team, you will help pioneer the next-generation military propulsion systems by defining and delivering thermal integrated solutions to defend freedom around the globe.

Job Description

As a Staff Engineer - Thermal, you will:

  • Develop and execute the analysis, design, test and integration of novel augmentor & exhaust system concepts to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Develop lean standard practices applicable to thermal design for augmentor & exhaust systems.
  • Recommend approaches to solving difficult, complex problem statements.
  • Ensure proper documentation in a timely manner following all engineering policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate project status updates to relevant leadership team members.
  • Lead or participate in organizational activities.
  • Present or review key technical review presentations to ensure engineering excellence.
  • Actively participate and support various technical community meetings & activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or closely related field of Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant heat transfer and/or thermal design experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active US Government security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to heat transfer or fluid mechanics preferred
  • Prior experience in the fundamentals of heat transfer and compressible flows.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Experience with fluid flow & heat transfer analytical software.
  • Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated technical program leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide others.
  • Ability to manage projects with limited guidance.
  • Fundamental understanding of augmentor and exhaust nozzle system design.
  • Familiarity with engine exhaust thermal & IR design concepts.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
