Boeing Global Services (BGS) – Structures Stress Team, located in sunny Southern California, are seeking an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer with knowledge of stress analysis methods, engineering principles, and coordination skills. This requisition is hiring for primary and secondary structures stress for airplane production, airplane post-production modifications, and space & defense.

This role may require some travel to support our customers and provide learning experiences to enhance your career.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performing detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis can support production, responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination and show compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Providing guidance on structural design and configuration development.

  • Create trade studies to optimize the structure and meet program requirements.

  • Work with the team to integrate component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity with some/minimal instruction.

  • Document structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in the resolution of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer (internal and external).

  • Ability to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree

  • 3+ years of experience with Stress/Structural Analysis

  • 3 + years of experience with classical hand analysis and FEA software experience

  • 3+ years of experience in interiors installation

  • Prior work or internship experience with Boeing

  • Willing & able to travel up to 10 of the time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience leading Interiors Retrofit Projects

  • Experience in metallic and/or composite static analysis.

  • Experience coordinating with internal customers, adjacent teams, and/or stakeholders

  • Experience with testing (vibe, strain gauge, proof pressure, etc.)

  • Experience with NASTRAN/PATRA, HYPERMESH, ABAQUS, or any other stress analysis suite

  • Experience with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis

Typical Education/ Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel: 10

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range for mid-level: $102,000 - $138,000

Summary pay range for senior level: $124,100 - $167,900

Summary pay range for lead level: $146,200 - $197,800
