This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Apply knowledge of structural analysis (e.g., materials technology, finite element modeling, static analysis, fatigue analysis, damage tolerance analysis, thermal analysis, vibration analysis, structural testing, etc.) to determine structural adequacy for customer requirements and regulatory compliance; and to collaborate on structural design, manufacturing, and post-delivery of products. Candidates are expected to perform as individual contributors within a team environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering or other related course of study obtained from an ABET accredited program
- Requires educational credentials meeting the Spirit classification standards for engineers and typically 2 to 4 years of experience in a stress or structural analysis engineering classification / position
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
- Working knowledge of aerospace industry practices and standards
- Advanced thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Must be familiar with classical structural analysis techniques, using free body diagrams and internal loads model data
- Candidate must be a resident of or willing to relocate to the Wichita, KS area
Preferred Qualifications:
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
- Detailed FEA, having both metallic and composite analysis methods, familiarity with CATIA V5 or V6 tools, and fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as spanet and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range Associate Engineer (Level 2): $74,750 - $114,600
Summary Pay Range Mid-level Engineer (Level 3): $94,350 - $144,650
Summary Pay Range Senior Engineer (Level 4): $118,750 - $182,100
