Summary

The Pratt & Whitney Quality & Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization which includes P&W Advanced Metrology is responsible for working closely with our internal and external producers and providing process approvals, surveillance, and production support.  P&W Quality and Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization is looking for a Structured Light Engineer (P3) to join our Advanced Metrology group to support improvement activities, application development, introduction of inspection technologies, and to become a subject matter expert to develop standard methods and support other company functional groups in areas related to measurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become a structured light testing and measurement system analysis expert.

  • Perform scanning inspection and analysis for customer requests, both in-house and at remote international locations.

  • Qualify and audit P&W module centers and suppliers for compliance to the Structured Light Qualification method. Provide findings report and follow ups, as needed. 

  • Create standard work for structured light inspection and technology deployment.

  • Investigate new technology in advanced metrology, including multi-sensor CMMs, non-contact inspection systems, advanced sensors and gaging methods.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.

  • Maintain compliance with all EH&S and ethics requirements.

  • Cross training opportunities in airflow testing, balance testing, CMM, and calibration within Q&PE.

  • Travel Requirements: up to 20

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree and 3+ years Quality or Engineering experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Engineering degree or similar Metrology concentration preferred.

  • Experience in CMM programming, structured light and/or layout inspection.

  • Programming in Python, Visual Basic, or Java preferred.

  • Comfortable working with automated machinery and robotics.

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T drawing interpretation, and implementation of measuring systems.

  • Experience with structured light scanners and analysis software such as GOM, POLYWORKS or GEOMAGIC

  • Strong statistical and analytical skills. Understand Design of Experiments, SPC, and Gage R&R.

  • Knowledge of Aerospace industry Quality standards and procedures.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

This requisition is eligible for an employee referral award.  ALL eligibility requirements must be met to receive the referral award.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
