Sustaining Engineer I (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Prepare drawings, Engineering Orders (EO), and specifications in a standardized format for use by Manufacturing in reproducing a product which will be in conformance to approved Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type data, adhering to Records and Release procedures. This is an entry level technical role to research, design, develop, analyze, and test a variety of mechanical/aerospace structures for production and experimental aircraft.
• Model conceptual layouts and proposed design changes in SIEMENSNX (CAD)
• Modify existing drawings, both CAD and manual, to correct errors and implement new designs
• Maintain and update technical documentation, including engineering orders, service bulletins, and maintenance manuals.
• Assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues related to existing aircraft models that span multiple areas of focus including power plant mechanical systems, flight controls, electrical/avionics, wing, fuselage, empennage, interiors, seats, landing gear, placards, etc
• Collaborate with senior engineers to propose and implement design enhancements or modifications to improve product performance and reliability.
• Determine appropriate standard hardware, utilizing stocked items when able or sourcing specialty hardware as required
• Research in areas that may not have CAD models
• Work with various departments including manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support to address and resolve product-related issues.
• Ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
• Perform other related duties as required

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. May be required to train and assist other employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in engineering or technology, (preferably mechanical or aerospace). No prior experience required; however, relevant internships or co-op experience is a plus. General aviation related experience in airframe, mechanical drafting, or design preferred.
Basic understanding of engineering principles, aircraft systems, and mechanical design. Familiarity with CAD software is advantageous.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to deal with personnel situations.
Considerable management skills are required to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position.
