We are looking for experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer SME to join our technology-based program supporting a key government customer. This program delivers Enterprise Computing Engineering services with modern technology solutions with that function both on customer premise, and via remote Cloud services. As a mission-focused administrator that solves problems on the program, you will be expected to: recognize the issue(s), identify the facts, define additional data that would be helpful, make assumptions as necessary, determine alternative approaches, evaluate alternatives, make recommendations, alter assumptions and rework solutions, and reflect on lessons learned.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing, securing, and evolving the enterprise Windows infrastructure. Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Windows-based systems and identity services, you will provide enterprise-level technical leadership, architectural direction, and operational excellence in support of large-scale, mission-critical environments.
In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, security, and lifecycle management of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related services. You will drive modernization, automation, and zero trust initiatives while partnering closely with senior stakeholders across operations, architecture, engineering, and security teams.

To thrive in this role, you should bring a proven track record of delivering SME-level troubleshooting, defining and executing architectural roadmaps, leading security assessments and remediations, and mentoring engineers—all while operating effectively in a fast-paced, high-availability enterprise environment.

Job Requirements:
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 16+ years of progressively responsible experience in Windows systems engineering within large-scale enterprise environments
  • SME-level experience managing mission-critical Windows infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud-integrated environments
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and supporting environments spanning:
    • On-premises infrastructure
    • Hybrid and multi-cloud integrations
    • Disconnected and air-gapped systems not connected to the internet
  • Hands-on experience administering and architecting:
    • Active Directory (multi-domain and/or multi-forest environments)
    • DNS, DHCP, and PKI/Certificate Authority (CA) services
    • Group Policy design, optimization, and troubleshooting
    • Repeatability and standardization
    • Deployment across multiple, disconnected, or isolated environments
  • Ability to design automated, well-documented processes that can be consistently applied across diverse infrastructure footprints
  • Strong documentation, design, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • Experience designing and supporting hybrid on-premises and cloud-integrated Windows environments
  • Experience leading or contributing to large-scale infrastructure modernization initiatives
  • Experience supporting compliance-driven or highly regulated environments
  • Experience mentoring engineers or providing formal technical knowledge transfer
  • Scripting expertise (e.g., PowerShell) to automate administrative and operational tasks
  • Experience with WSUS administration and patch management strategies
  • Familiarity with configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft security tooling and advanced Windows hardening techniques
  • Experience with:
    • NetScaler
    • DNS Anycast
    • Splunk
    • Rapid7
  • Strong analytical ability, communication skills, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Ability to influence technical direction and architectural decisions at an enterprise level


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
