The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.

The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a full-time Systems Engineering Intern to support system integration activities with our Systems Engineering team as we develop and execute subsystem-to-subsystem integration processes to support the US/UK TRIDENT Submarine Strategic Weapon System (SWS) program. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, good at planning, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This position is responsible for working closely with numerous engineering teams supporting the U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) office, specifically performing the following functions:
  • Learning integration strategy and approach
  • Supporting integration assessments of subsystem interfaces
  • Supporting the integration team in maintaining the integration traceability matrix
  • Attending meetings with community IPTs / Working Groups / Communities of Practice
  • Supporting Systems Engineering technical reviews

Job Requirements:
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Scientific degree with suitable engineering content, or have completed a four year college degree within the past 12 months
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, etc.)


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience with DOORS, MATLAB, CREO, and/or MagicDraw
  • Familiarity with:
    • SysML
    • System Integration Strategies
    • Systems Engineering Philosophy


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $67640

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
