The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. The Hardware Engineering team strives to be the premier organization for mechanical design and development through our world class people and technology - creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place. Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.
Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical and electrical design, development, verification testing and integration of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.
The UES department is looking to position an Electrical Engineering Technical Staff Section Leader. The Electrical Engineering Technical Staff Section Leader will report to the UES Department Leader and is responsible for the success of the Section’s people and performance in alignment with RTX’s Leadership Behaviors Model. The priority of the Section Leader is to ensure that the Section delivers results by providing appropriate resources and support for all programs and initiatives led and/or supported by the Section. The Section Leader is responsible for the on-time and accurate delivery of the work products prepared by all section personnel. The Section Leader is also responsible for execution of Performance Impact throughout the year, implementing a career development program for the section members, salary planning, and for continuing leadership of and/or support to Hardware Engineering initiatives. This position is on-site in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
What You Will Do.
- Provide direct line management and leadership for 15-20 experienced Electrical Engineers
- Served as the liaison to the programs and IPTs concerning staffing assignments, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Responsible for employee technical development, leadership development, mentoring, motivating, training, and recognition.
- Be an advocate for your team for their career development and performance goals.
- Ensure Raytheon policies and procedures are adhered to
- Lead and support Department and Center initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Oversee mid to large sized cross functional engineering teams as a technical execution lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start up, requirements allocation, preliminary design, detailed development, and first article production.
- Assist with cost, schedule, and technical management tasks both in the proposal and execution phases
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Prior leadership roles (frontline or project leader)
- Extensive experience in hardware engineering design, development and/or production support across a wide variety of products
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience with technical and cost proposal development, technical risk management, and managing cost and schedule requirements for assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of our earned value management system (EVMS), and including basic management reports such as: EACs, HW Tracking Books, proposal reviews and Standard Bidding Tool (SBT)
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong presentation and technical writing skills combined with knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
- Experience in being an advocate for process improvement
- Experience with Performance Development Processes
- Experience with Workforce Planning
- Proven ability to manage multiple and competing priorities successfully

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
