Job Summary:
The Test Engineer IV is a senior-level professional responsible for independently performing advanced engineering duties in the research, planning, design, and development of products for the Aerospace or Electronics spanetplace. This role requires originality, ingenuity, and adherence to established procedures. The Test Engineer IV specializes in complex technical challenges, collaborates within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, and manages multiple independent tasks with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions:
- Work effectively with all functional groups to achieve product performance and cost targets, ensuring quality and manufacturability are built into the design. Adhere to company and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe operating environment.
- Support process improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and 5S practices, to foster an organized and efficient working environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in verbal and written English for technical reports, presentations, analyses, and other communications across all organizational levels.
- Understand, decompose, and define product and process requirements to support product development, sustaining efforts, and R&D activities.
- Plan, estimate, prioritize, and manage work activities to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Utilize experience and judgment to produce thorough and accurate designs that meet customer specifications and company requirements for schedule, cost, producibility, quality, and reliability.
- Apply advanced problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for technical challenges in product development and sustaining assignments.
- Generate and review technical documentation, including proposals, reports, procedures, and correspondence, to meet customer and program requirements.
- Work independently while effectively communicating and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Mentor junior engineers and other team members in areas of expertise.
- Actively participate in IPT activities, collaborating with technical, operations, quality, and business disciplines.
- Design hardware and software for test equipment, select and procure necessary components, and integrate or build automated test systems of high complexity.
- Develop, code, and debug computer/data acquisition systems using software such as National Instruments’ LabVIEW or TestStand.
- Provide comprehensive design packages, including written descriptions, wiring schematics, component lists, and other documentation to ensure accurate reconstruction of test systems.
- Generate test procedures from specifications and perform calculations to establish test equipment specifications, design margins, test setups, and test limits.
- Ensure test data is neat, organized, accurate, and properly archived.
- Assist in designing new test equipment and upgrading existing systems to improve production processes and error-proofing.
- Conduct thorough reviews of test equipment documents, procedures, and designs, and provide testability feedback for product designs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Education/Certification: BA or BS Degree in an engineering discipline. Masters or PhD preferred.
- Knowledge: Hardware design experience including Analog Circuit Design and Digital Circuit Design. Microprocessor / Microcontroller design. Automated test system design, and programming of data acquisition systems. Software development and verification. Product/equipment requirements development, requirements analysis/verification and test procedures development. Configuration management in a regulated environment
- Skills/Abilities: Ability to generate high quality engineering schematics, diagrams, procedures. LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar system-design platforms. SPICE, CADs, Schematic Design and PWB Layout. Communication Interfaces (e.g., ARINC429, CAN, RS232, I2C...)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a regulated industry and fast pace environment
- National Instruments’ LabVIEW certification
- Interested in using LabVIEW within the ALOHA Application Framework.
- Experience with manufacturing environment
- Previous Aerospace testing experience

Requires work with small to medium size hand and power tools
Occasional travel to customer and outside test lab facilities for technical interchange meetings, design reviews, product testing support, and to attend technical seminars

Salary Range: 144,398 - 168,926.40 USD Annual
Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
