Manufacturing Innovation

This position will manage and execute projects for the Digital Manufacturing team within the Manufacturing Innovation group at the MTC (Manufacturing Technology Center). Daily activities will include ensuring the smooth preparation of digital cutting tool data/physical assets, gauge kits, proper cutting tool purchase to support execution of all CNC machines and troubleshooting any problems that arise. Additional duties include training and supervising other engineers and researching the latest in technological advancements.

What you’ll be doing as a Tooling Engineer

Conducting research, testing or development as required to evaluating advanced perishable tools, process equipment and/or system concepts, as well as new applications of existing concepts to produce advanced or unique product designs.

Aiding Manufacturing Innovation teams to resolve manufacturing process problems and initiation of new manufacturing concepts.

Supporting MI Digital Manufacturing team with building tool assemblies in Zoller, CATIA, and Vericut assisting with cutting speeds and feeds and instruction of new machining concepts and methods.

Evaluate and recommend tooling and tooling components for new machine tools.

Directing and document the improved perishable tooling procedures and maintain the area tool kit records.

Job Requirements:

Skills You Bring To this Role

5 years minimum experience in Manufacturing Engineering functions, requiring experience in fabrication, shop methods and processes

Comprehensive understanding of the processes and workflows that are associated with cutting tool selection and application.

Extensive experience with tooling and gauging selection and procedures

Experience with CAD/CAM systems such as CATIA v5 or v6, Prefer Catia 3DX experience.

Excellent communicator, must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, and brief leaders/customers.

What you need to be successful

We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.

Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.

Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
