Job Description

At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. From the seabed to outer space, you can contribute to work that matters with a company where diversity, equity and inclusion are shared values. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

The X-66 Sustainable Flight Demonstrator Program is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our System Safety Engineering Team.  This position will be available in Everett, Washington

We are looking for a broad range of experience including Associate, Mid-Level and Senior Systems Engineers.

NASA and Boeing are partnering to develop the X-66, an experimental aircraft designed to help the United States achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The aircraft will have long, thin wings with a set of aerodynamic trusses for support, known as a Transonic Truss-Braced Wing. The X-66 is the first X-plane specifically focused on helping the United States achieve the goal of net-zero aviation greenhouse gas emissions and presents a unique set of engineering challenges compared to a traditional commercial aircraft design.

We are a geographical distributed organization looking for innovative, passionate, and highly collaborative teammates to help us dive into the design architecture and conduct safety activities to ensure system safety, quality, integrity, and mission success.

We provide opportunities for those looking to take the next step in their system and design safety career and to contribute to a unique Boeing-NASA partnership aimed at demonstrating and testing technologies that could lead to breakthroughs in sustainable flight and inform the designs of the next generation of single-aisle airplanes. The unique nature of this experimental aircraft makes the X-66 program a great place to see how both commercial and defense aerospace programs are executed on a rapid timeline.

The System Safety Engineering Team is responsible for the development and execution of the X-66 Systems Safety Program Plan and works closely and collaboratively with the program teams (software engineering, systems engineering, design, integration, test and more) to develop safety requirements, assess architectures and designs, identify safety risks and develop associated mitigations, and verify final designs meets safety requirements and program safety goals.
