Finance Business Partner Atlantic Joint Business (AJB)

Your role

The Finance Business Partner is a critical enabler of business area and company performance by taking responsibility for all matters relating to strategic planning, annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, monthly performance management and investment management. This is a key role with a candidate joining an inclusive team, working collaboratively with functional business areas, in a hybrid working model.

The Atlantic Joint Business (“AJB”) is a joint venture that started in 2010, between American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia, with Finnair joining in 2013, LEVEL in 2017 and Aer Lingus in 2021. By bringing their network of flights together, the partnership offers customers in the North Atlantic the most competitive choice, with Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and LEVEL operating in Europe and American Airlines in the USA. The AJB is a significant contributor and driver to the Aer Lingus North Atlantic network.

Your responsibilities as a Finance Business Partner for Atlantic Joint Business will include:

  • Develop understanding of detailed AJB reporting requirements and obligations including the specific accounting requirements underpinning the AJB Revenue Share model.
  • Own and manage all documentation requirements for specific passenger revenues and costs (such as fuel, catering and other passenger variable costs), manage the collation and analysis of same, perform detailed analytics to confirm accuracy and ensure all such figures are fully in line with AJB reporting requirements.
  • Ensure effective processes and procedures are put in place and clearly documented to manage on-going reporting obligations to the AJB Finance Working Group (a representative committee from all airlines in the AJB), including completion of all required reporting for monthly revenue sharing purposes.
  • Support commercial negotiations on AJB matters including providing financial guidance and scenario analysis using detailed revenue share models, working closely in this regard with network planning, partnerships, tax, and commercial teams.
  • Produce monthly management reporting for Aer Lingus senior managers and Executives to explain AJB performance.
  • Coordinate the annual external audit ensuring data is compiled in line with AJB requirements and audit queries are closed out promptly.
  • Work with Finance systems and FP&A teams to develop appropriate system-based reports and models to efficiently track AJB revenue and costs.

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Qualified accountant or similar type financial qualification.
  • Previous experience in Audit (Big 4/Top 10 practice), with 2+ years post qualified experience gained either in Audit or at a publicly listed company or comparatively large private company in Financial Accounting or FP&A.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity with an ability to problem solve and form own conclusions.
  • Keen analytical ability and attention to detail allowing meaningful review of facts and numbers and ability to couple this to solutions and actions.
  • Accustomed to operating in a complex, highly competitive and margin focused business environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software applications combined with general proficiency in IT systems.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Provide three verifiable references.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Able to pass an aviation security vetting process, that includes an enhanced background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport as this position is based in Dublin.

Desirable criteria

An understanding of SAP, ideally SAP 4 Hana.
Experience with reporting tools such as Hyperion, Cognos or equivalent.
