Working within the Minor Vessel Capability Lifecycle Manager (MV CLCM) program, the Inventory Procurement Officer is accountable to the Inventory Procurement Lead. You will support development and proactive management of the inventory procurement requirements across the vessel’s lifecycle – underpinning the availability of the ships to Navy.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan, coordinate and execute procurement activities of moderate complexity in accordance with mandated customer / third‑party policies, processes and delegations.
- Initiate and support sourcing and procurement due‑diligence activities, integrating mandatory policy requirements including (but not limited to) Indigenous and local industry participation (Australian Industry Capability), Sustainability and Modern Slavery.
- Work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to clarify, define and refine scope, supply requirements and statements of work.
- Identify candidate suppliers and recommend the appropriate approach‑to‑spanet, including use of approved agreements and exemptions where applicable.
- Prepare, issue and manage Requests for Quote and/or Tender in accordance with customer / third‑party requirements.
- Evaluate supplier responses, undertake cost, schedule and risk analysis, and prepare value‑for‑money recommendations supported by judgement and experience.
- Prepare purchase orders ensuring accuracy, completeness, appropriate approvals and compliance with financial delegations.
- Manage procurement activities through to delivery, monitoring supplier performance to ensure scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements are met.
- Support confirmation of goods receipt and supplier payment activities in accordance with customer / third‑party processes.
- Make minor improvements or enhancements to procurement processes, tools or systems to improve efficiency, compliance or effectiveness of the work area.
- Act as a point of contact for suppliers and stakeholders for assigned procurements
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-4 years prior relevant experience required.
- Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of supply chain (procurement, material logistics), contracting, business, commerce, law or finance work area.
- Requires practical knowledge of projects, programs, or systems relevant to the business with the ability to make enhancements and leverage knowledge in daily work.
