Strategic Procurement (SP) is comprised of several verticals, including a Centre of Excellence (COE) to support SP. The successful candidate will play a key role for SP-ACM initiatives. Given the breadth and varied nature of the activities within this portfolio, this opportunity will provide interaction with key stakeholders in many parts of the organization. This position will report to the Principal, Strategic Procurement – Air Canada Maintenance & Engineering.This role requires someone who will be a key contributor to lead important sourcing projects and contract negotiations for Air Canada Maintenance and Flight Operations. The successful candidate will apply a passion for collaboration and synergy in order to obtain the best value for the airline and to develop mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Responsibilities:The Partner, Strategic Procurement Flight Operations will lead sourcing projects and contracts related to Air Canada Maintenance and Flight Operations products and services. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality services and products with a strong focus on total cost of ownership and value.
In this role, responsibilities will include executing on sourcing strategies, handling competitive bid processes and contract negotiations, and contributing to the overall improvement of procurement practices at Air Canada.In greater detail, key areas of responsibility include the following:
Execute procurement strategiesDevelop and maintain an understanding of emerging industry and supply spanet trends to strengthen Air Canada’s negotiating positionsStay abreast of strategic initiatives and priorities through close collaboration with ACM & FOPSAnalyse and monitor supplier spend and expiring contracts to uncover potential sourcing and consolidation opportunitiesEngage the COE team to conduct research, analysis and risk assessments where necessary
Lead and manage procurement sourcing projects and contractsConduct baseline spend analysisWork with internal cross functional teams to determine business requirements and establish sourcing strategies that deliver financial and non-financial benefits (e.g. service levels (SLAs), KPIs, risk and cost mitigation)Prepare and issue RFP/RFQ/RFI, evaluate responses, short list suppliers, and conduct negotiationsEnsure that Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) is in place following the sourcing processNegotiate, draft contracts and handle signature executionCollaborate with internal subject matter experts to obtain concurrence on contractual clauses
Contribute to the improvement of internal procurement processesParticipate in the establishment of best-in-class procurement methodsImprove sourcing models to evaluate supplier proposals using quantitative and qualitative criteriaEnhance contract clauses and terms
Act as an ambassador for Strategic Procurement and Air CanadaFurther develop SP’s relationships with internal customersEffectively communicate and promote the successes of SPActively engage in learning Air Canada’s business processesContinually seek areas for improvement
QualificationsUniversity degree in a relevant field of study (business, commerce, supply chain, engineering, information technology) or a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experienceExcellent communication (verbal and written), analytical, negotiation, and project management skillsAbility to influence without formal authorityStrong ability to be autonomousLeadership, creative thinking and innovationProfessionalism, discretion and ethical behaviourStrong organizational skillsAbility to multi-task, work under pressure and adapt or accommodate changing prioritiesCompletion of (or working towards) a SCMP designation, ISM or other procurement designation is an asset Flexibility with work hours is required.
