Primary Objective of the Position:
Reporting directly to Manager, Controlling, the Senior Financial Analyst, Controlling, will ensure robust financial control, accuracy in financial reporting, and compliance with IFRS standards. The role requires hands-on SAP S/4HANA expertise, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of Canadian tax reporting, reconciliation processes, and internal controls. This position also requires active collaboration with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to support Cargojets strategic financial and compliance objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and quarterly financial close processes, maintaining general ledger integrity.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Manage and execute Canadian tax compliance, including GST/HST and corporate tax filings.
- Collaborate closely with external tax advisors on complex tax compliance and planning matters.
- Support environmental and sustainability reporting obligations.
- Identify and implement process improvements, especially those that leverage SAP S/4HANA automation and reporting capabilities, to enhance efficiency in financial operations.
- Preparation of journal entries with detailed back-ups for review and approval
- Preparation of Bank Reconciliation Statement and adjustment / transfer entries.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with company accounting policies and internal control requirements.
- Other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial controlling, reporting, and analysis.
- Expert-level knowledge of IFRS standards and Canadian tax regulations.
- Strong proficiency in SAP S/4HANA (FI/CO modules) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with auditors and external advisors.
- Familiarity with Banking systems and processes.
- Previous experience in the aviation or logistics industry is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with ESG reporting standards is an advantage.
- Preferably to be familiar with financial automation and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience in managing intercompany accounting and consolidation processes is a definite advantage.
