Cabin Interiors Specialist

Your role

The Cabin Interiors Specialist is responsible for defining and managing the specification for all aspects of the aircraft interior and seating proposition. Reporting to the Product Manager of Cabin Interiors, Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity, the successful candidate will be the Customer Experience owner for ensuring our customers inflight experience is spent in a cabin environment that is a relaxing space, portrays the Aer Lingus brand, with comfortable seating and cabin features that add value to the customer journey.

This role will involve change management and project management disciplines, working across a wide range of teams within Aer Lingus, as well as aircraft manufacturers, suppliers for seats and cabin components, as well as design agencies. The role will advocate for and drive the customer experience considerations for Fleet specification, existing and future.

As Aer Lingus continues to evolve its fleet with more modern and sustainable aircraft, with seats and cabin features that provide a uniquely Aer Lingus experience, the output of this role will be essential to deliver competitive advantage through hard product differentiation, driving NPS, increased advocacy and profitability.

Your responsibilities as a Cabin Interiors Specialist will include:

  • Manage the development and delivery of all new products designed for the interior of the aircraft including premium and economy seating, interior finishing, galleys and lavatories.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects – ranging from new fleet additions, to retrofit programs, new seat selection and cabin modifications driven by business requirements.
  • Work closely with many internal departments and suppliers across a worldwide supplier base to enhanced customer comfort onboard & improve the way in which the Aer Lingus brand is infused across various design components of the aircraft interior.
  • Develop the overall cabin and seating design concept for the future Aer Lingus fleet, in collaboration with the Marketing & Brand team and our selected design agencies.
  • Maintain adherence to strict timelines and milestones along the critical path for cabin interiors projects – including ITCM, PDR, DDR and FAI.
  • Coordinate an audit program of the cabin appearance across the fleet, working collaboratively with other departments in the continuous improvement of cabin interior standards in the way we maintain and clean.
  • Benchmarking and analysis of emerging trends in the area of cabin interiors and aircraft seating, ensuring that evolving customer expectations are factored into the Aer Lingus future fleet specification.
  • Work closely with customer insights to monitor customer satisfaction with current aspects of cabin interiors and seating, supporting investment cases for new features or modifications with robust customer data and demonstrable NPS improvement / return on investment.

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Excellent organisation skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations up to executive management level.
  • Familiarity of aircraft interiors and cabin/seating components, or ability to acquire knowledge thereof quickly.
  • Design sensibility.
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering successful projects.
  • Customer focussed, and ability to interpret customer data and insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Motivated, confident and able to work on own initiative.
  • Team player with the proven ability to work on own initiative in a fast paced, ever changing environment. 
  • Ability to create and develop strong collaborative working relationships across all levels in the organisation. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. 
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Provide three verifiable references.
  • Able to pass a five year security background check. 
  • Able to pass an aviation security vetting process, that includes an enhanced background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport as this position is based in Dublin.
