Aircraft Upholstery Technician
Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Aircraft Upholstery Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, covering, and installing interior components for aircraft cabins, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards. This position requires precision craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of materials and tools.
Key Responsibilities- Fabrication & Installation:
- Fabricate and install flat panels, curtains, and other interior components using engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
- Sew simple covers and assemble upholstery pieces as required.
- Material Handling:
- Work with fabrics, vinyl, leather hides, composites, and other materials using adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, and hand/power tools.
- Cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads, and install panels.
- Component Assembly:
- Fit and install cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows.
- Fabricate metal parts as needed for interior installations.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Utilize material tracking systems to create part demands, track discrepancies, and sign off completed work.
- Ensure all work meets aerospace industry standards and safety requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience:
- 2–4 years of experience in upholstery or carpet trades, including use of commercial sewing machines, sergers, and hand tools.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
- Strong skills in upholstery, sewing, and assembly.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
Additional Competencies- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with adhesives, hardware, and various power tools used in upholstery work.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.50 - $33.81/hr.
