Job Description:
Position Overview
Disassemble, inspect, repair, clean, modify, and reassemble aircraft seats and seating components. Work includes foam fabrication, glue work, sewing, trimming, patterning, and mechanical seat adjustments. Must work independently, maintain high workmanship, and comply with FAA guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Repair/overhaul seats per FAA, OEM specs, and company standards.
  • Perform upholstery tasks: sewing, pattern reading, trimming, cutting materials, foam build&8209;ups, dress&8209;cover fabrication, cushion assembly.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble seats and interior components.
  • Assist with design approaches and upholstery techniques for major modifications.
  • Maintain familiarity with various seat styles and configurations.
  • Modify, repair, or replace seat components, mechanisms, and soft goods.
  • Perform foam shaping, gluing, and structural padding.
  • Keep shop equipment, tools, and facility clean.
  • Inspect incoming materials for flaws/quality issues.
  • Document work according to FAA and company requirements.
  • Train and guide less&8209;experienced technicians.
  • Work independently when needed and stay productive without constant supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Interiors or management.
Experience & Qualifications
  • 1-3&8239;years aircraft upholstery or seating experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of aviation materials, foams, adhesives, upholstery techniques.
  • Experience with commercial sewing machines, sergers, hand tools; band&8209;saw and pin&8209;saw experience a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude; familiarity with seat components and mechanisms.
  • Ability to read work orders, patterns, drawings, and manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Self&8209;motivated, dependable, minimal supervision.
  • Effective written/verbal communication; professional attitude with customers, vendors, coworkers.
  • English fluency.
Regulatory & Safety
  • Follow FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Comply with OSHA, hazmat, and safety requirements.
  • Pass pre&8209;employment DOT drug/alcohol test; subject to random testing.
  • Maintain customer&8209;focused habits; represent Seatsource professionally.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift/carry up to 50&8239;lb.
  • Walk, bend, squat, sit for extended periods.
  • Repetitive hand/arm motions (grasping, cutting, sewing, assembly).
  • Stand for long periods.
  • Work in small or restricted areas.
