Overview
The Solutions & Recovery teams focus to ensure our customers have a great experience from booking to post travel. This internship program offers an outstanding opportunity to work on high level projects that create process improvements, enhance the customer experience, and help drive efficiencies within the teams.
- Customer Solutions & Hotel/Transportation Operations teams – Serve as advocates for our customers, inflight and flight ops teams in the NOC. Assists with diversions, irregular operations rebooking, customer compensation, policy support to stations, and secures needed crew hotels and transportation.
- Global Customer Solutions, Social Care teams & Customer Communication teams – Work to resolve issues before, during and after they occur, provide customer outreach, sends messaging via digital channels, and monitors social conversations in real-time for potential engagements.
- Premium Services Ops – works to ensure a positive premium amenity experience from our United lounges to our Global services program, and our tarmac transportation program.
Key Responsibilities:
This internship offers students an opportunity to work on high-visibility cross-functional teams. Uniteds ability to provide a seamless experience during all aspects of customer journey during operational or service disruptions is critical to our overall customer experience and the efficiency in which we operate. As a result, the Solutions and Recovery teams work as advocates to support our customers and colleagues when the overall customer experience is disrupted. The intern will also develop analytical skills around customer support, operational recovery, and internal/external customer experience.
Additionally, the intern will serve as an internal consultant providing business analyses on various critical initiatives as well as communicating ideas to senior leadership, such as:
- Analyzing current processes and looking for opportunities to increase team efficiencies
- Look for ways to leverage technology and/or automation to drive improvements
- Evaluate potential reporting metrics to quantify impact of teams
This internship is solely designed to provide you with skill development and valuable work experience. This role may not convert to a position at United at the conclusion of the internship.
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Current undergraduate student with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2028
- Track record of outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others
- Able to adapt to a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
- Ability to apply quantitative skills and discernment to airline industry
- Strong customer service mindset
- Willingness to help with additional work/projects as assigned
- Position is based in Arlington Heights, IL - must be able to relocate for internship duration
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
- Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
The starting rate for this role is $20.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education and skills. This position may also be eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
