About the Internship

Join the Production Planning team at Collins Aerospace, where precision, coordination, and efficiency keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly.
As a Production Planning Intern, you will play an active role in supporting daily scheduling, coordination between functions, and key planning activities that ensure on-time delivery to customers.

This internship provides hands-on experience in production scheduling, material flow analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, while also offering opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement (CI) projects that enhance process efficiency and productivity.

What You Will Learn

  • Understand how production planning and scheduling drive operational success in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Gain exposure to Customer Oriented Results & Excellence (CORE) tools and continuous improvement methodologies used to optimize performance.
  • Strengthen your analytical and problem-solving skills by identifying workflow inefficiencies and proposing improvements.
  • Develop effective communication and coordination skills through collaboration with engineering, materials, and operations teams.
  • Learn to balance planning priorities across inventory, production, and delivery performance metrics.

What You Will Work On

  • Analyze material flow and production data to support planning, scheduling, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Monitor and manage the production release plan, maintaining optimum inventory levels while minimizing delays.
  • Support the Material Planning group with reports to track delivery targets and inventory turn goals.
  • Assist in resolving material and scheduling issues on the shop floor.
  • Coordinate closely with cross-functional departments to resolve planning, scheduling, and shipment challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operational practices, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in and initiate continuous improvement (CI) activities to enhance planning efficiency and team productivity.

  • Basic knowledge of Power BI or Tableau for analytical reporting and visualization.
