The Buyer is responsible for managing inventory of food products, frozen goods, packaging, and operational supplies to support airline catering operations. This role focuses on maintaining accurate stock levels, ensuring timely procurement, controlling costs, and upholding company standards while fostering strong vendor relationships.
Unlike traditional sourcing roles, this position is hands-on and floor-based. The Buyer spends most of the day on the production floor overseeing inventory and frozen food management, with limited time at a desk.
The schedule for this position is 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with regular days off on Saturday and Sunday.
Compensation & Benefits
Source and purchase materials, food products, packaging, and supplies to meet daily operational needs.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely deliveries.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages or waste.
Track purchasing activity using SAP MM and Microsoft Office tools.
Collaborate with culinary, logistics, and operations teams to align purchasing with production schedules.
Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and company standards.
Prepare reports and communicate updates to management.
High school diploma or GED required; additional education in supply chain or business preferred.
1–3 years of experience in materials, purchasing, or clerical roles.
SAP MM experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with vendors and internal teams.
Ability to perform in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Intermediate math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
