Composite Operator
16.38 per hour
Morson are currently recruiting multiple composite operators to support our Aerospace client based in Severn Beach. You will be responsible for manufacturing aircraft components from composite materials to specific design and engineering requirements. We’re looking for candidates with experience working in production facilities and manufacturing complex components.
The roles are being offered on an initial 6-month basis to cover a spike in demand. But they will likely be extended beyond the initial 6-months if demand continues as expected. You will be full time on site across a varied 2-week shift pattern. Your shifts will change on alternate weeks working out at an average of 40.25 hours per week. We can pay a rate of 16.38 per hour PAYE inside IR35. Meanwhile weekday overtime will be 24.57 per hour PAYE with weekend overtime at 32.76 per hour PAYE. Our client is also offering night shifts at an increased rate.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture aircraft components from carbon and glass fibre pre-preg materials
- Use processing equipment to lay-up and cure composite wing spars and test pieces
- Use forming presses, drape machines, vacuum presses, automated tape lay and fibre placement machines, laser projection equipment, autoclaves and ovens to manufacture and cure composite spars
- Prepare and clean mandrels and cure tooling for manufacture of composite spars
- Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities
- Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements
Requirements
- Experience of assembling and manufacturing production components using drawings and processes
- Minimum NVQ Level 2.
- Experience in a manual handling work environment
- Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances
- Good hand skills and co-ordination
- Understand aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
- Knowledge of composite bonding and assembly techniques using pre-preg materials
- Ability to operate CNC machines and processes
- Ability and willingness to undertake training and understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes
- Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
