What does the role look like?

As a Machinist within our Global Defence Systems value stream, you will play a key role in producing complex components to support critical defence programmes. Working on 4-axis CNC milling machines, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and machining precision parts to exacting standards, while contributing to continuous improvement across the value stream.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

•tSet and operate CNC milling machines using Fanuc control systems.
•tMachine complex components to tight tolerances, following engineering drawings.
•tCarry out tool changes, manage speeds and feeds, and ensure process efficiency.
•tUse a variety of in-process gauging and inspection equipment to verify component quality.
•tApply continuous improvement methods within a manufacturing environment.
•tCollaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues across the production team.

Job Requirements:

Essential skills:

•\tNVQ Level 3 in a relevant Engineering/Manufacturing subject
•\tProven experience working on 4-axis CNC milling machines (Fanuc).
•\tBackground in mechanical/manufacturing engineering within a production environment.

Desirable skills:

•\tKnowledge of control systems and process optimisation.
•\tExperience machining complex defence or aerospace components.
•\tUnderstanding of continuous improvement methodologies.
•\tAbility to use a wide range of inspection and gauging equipment.
•\tStrong written and verbal communication skills.
•\tStrong ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings.
