Role Summary
* The Machinist Experimental performs diversified machining operations to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering specifications. This role supports experimental and production machining by planning setups, operating manual and CNC equipment, verifying tolerances, and maintaining documentation while adhering to safety and quality standards. Education & Job Requirements
* You must have
* At least 3 years of diversified machine shop experience or equivalent technical training or coursework in machining or a related field.
* The ability to read and interpret engineering documents.
* The ability to calculate dimensional information for machining and machined parts.
* The ability to operate and interpret precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
* The ability to use simple or compound sine tools.
* The ability to adhere to general work requirements. Preferred Skills
* You will have
* The ability to deburr, cut, polish, blend, and smooth machined part surfaces using hand tools such as grinders, deburring tools, drills, and files.
* Basic knowledge of the properties of mild steel, stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum applicable to part fabrication.
* The ability to operate machining equipment, including mills and lathes.
* Experience performing manual and CNC machining operations, including turning, boring, drilling, milling, tapping, and threading.
* The ability to build shop aid tools to enhance machining operations for applicable equipment. Job Duties & Functions
* You will be able
* Verify the correct quantity and material type, and ensure that all prior inspection points have been stamped.
* Verify that all required engineering and shop documents are available prior to performing assigned work orders.
* Assist with planning machining procedures and setting up machines and parts.
* Set up and verify cutting tools in accordance with machine requirements.
* Perform machining operations such as boring, drilling, milling, tapping, and threading on raw material to produce parts within specified tolerances and dimensions.
* Monitor feeds, spindle speeds, and tool wear during machining processes and make required adjustments to equipment, tools, or parts.
* Finish machined parts using appropriate hand tools.
* Verify completed parts meet specified tolerances and dimensions and make further adjustments as required.
* Maintain machining documents, shop aid tools, and blueprints for applicable machines and equipment.
